I was taught to do the best I could with what I had.

I was the one always making handmade gifts every year.  Crafting and creating are things that have always been with me.  Eventually though, children came along and with careers and kids and whatnot, they faded into the background for a time.

In 2017, my life was suddenly changed.  I could no longer do, rely on or call upon a lot of things that I used to be able to.  There wasn't a lot of promise to put things to right either, except in the most vague maybe-sometime-in-the-future-kinda way.  It was, and still can be at times, a lot to deal with.

I found myself in the basement digging through old boxes of craft supplies.  At first all I did was count beads.  Then findings.  Then ideas would start to come forth, then projects.  With a little encouragement I opened up my Etsy shop.  With a little more encouragement, l have taken things to this point.

There is a stillness when I work that I do not get from any other source.  A calm.  When I create, I am able to focus and have silence.  I create to find peace.  I create for creations sake.  I create... because creation fights the chaos.

Shibori has given me many things, but the most important was the reminder of wabi-sabi, the appreciation of the flawed, the unbalanced, the imperfect, the natural and the beauty that comes out of the most unlikely of sources.  Here its not only an esthetic, its a way of life.

Welcome.  I'm Raven.  I create fripperies, sundries, oddities and accessories in my rural Ontario home.  Everything on this site was handmade by me.  Check it out... there might be something here waiting just for you.
